| A Question About Ingredients Most sincerely, Betsy C. Dear Betsy, We use extra virgin olive oil in our formula. Extra virgin olive oil is cold pressed, meaning that no heat or solvents are used in the extraction method. This allows the oil to retain all of its nutrients, most signifigantly its naturally occuring polyphenols and other natural antioxidants in the oil that help keep the oil from going rancid. The beeswax in our formula, which plays a significant part in its effectiveness, also acts as a stabilizer. We have been manufacturing this product and using it ourselves for over three years and have never encountered a case of it causing a piece of furniture to smell rancid. The olive oil does not saturate the wood; it is suspended in the waxes and in conjunction with the waxes penetrates the surface enough to recondition and protect the wood. Daddy Van's is a paste wax and is applied to the wood with a clean, soft cotton cloth. If the wood is very dry you may let it sit for a few minutes to allow the product to penetrate the wood. Then buff with a fresh soft cotton cloth. I am sure that you will be very pleased with Daddy Van's. Thank you for writing! Sincerely, Laura Kalkman, Founder and President |
| Daddy Van's for Wood Floors? Dear Misa, We have many customers who use Daddy Van's on their wood floors with great results. I would not suggest using it on floors that you plan to refinish in the near future, however, because the oils and waxes penetrate the wood and will prevent the new stain from penetrating. But it is that very quality that allows Daddy Van's to renew and restore furniture and wood floors; it penetrates the wood and leaves it glowing! To apply, rub onto the wood with a clean cotton cloth, and allow the product to sit for a few minutes. Then buff with a new clean cotton cloth (and old t-shirt works great!) until all excess is removed. Please note that you will need to completely buff all excess polish from your floors, or it will leave a residue that will attract dirt and can be tracked onto rugs, etc. It is always advisable to test any new product on a small area to ensure that you are getting the results you desire. |
